Is Iran Safe for Travel?

Travelers often wonder if Iran is safe to travel to. The country, formally established in 1979 and changing from it’s historic name of Persia, is compelling visitors to aspire to visit the ancient country.  Whether you travel alone or in a group, you are a man or a woman, or you arrive during the day or at night, Iran is very safe.  Iran is under an Islamic rule yet you’d be surprised at what you see and do on the streets and what happens behind-the-scenes: fashion, concerts, television, parties, and even alcohol. The citizens of Iran are very much like you and me; they are very modern.

333x400-trip-photo-iran2Three decades ago, Iran was perhaps the most dangerous place in the world to visit.  Until recent years it has remained a dangerous place to visit. The country has been portrayed in the media as extremely negative. With multiple years of unrest, hatred of western ideas, suppression of freedoms, and overall terrorism, visiting Iran should be approached with a degree of caution. But Iran is not as it used to be. Iran is a wonderful country for all to visit, whether you’re interested in food, culture, history, shopping, religion, architecture or politics. It all blends together to make for one incredible experience.

President Hassan Rouhani came to power in 2013 firmly making tourism a top priority in rebuilding Iran’s struggling economy. He overhauled the visa process, making it much easier to receive a tourist entry visa, removed restrictions on American tourists, and, most importantly, negotiated the Iran nuclear deal in 2015. This nuclear deal opened a lot of possibilities for the country. President Rouhani desired to open his country’s borders to foreigner visitors.

Since 2013 tourism in Iran has increased dramatically, proving that foreign travel is secure, illuminating, and unforgettable. Many travel to Iran to experience the delights of the ancient Persian Empire, yet are unaware of the limitations faced by the rules and regulations of what is now a strict Islamic Republic. American citizens must by accompanied by a guide at all times while they are in Iran, therefore key to an enjoyable trip is to find the company you wish to travel with. Doing so allows you to experience the rich culture, intriguing history, charming architecture, and traditional cuisine with locals who know the ins-and-outs of the country. Those “tour guides” are trained to keep you safe and to show you all the sights and experience all the true treasures of Iran. A group of recent Original World travelers to Iran returned with overwhelming praise. This group stated that the trip was memorable, exciting, and gorgeous and is recommended to all.
