UPDATE: The newly-founded HITA Music Agency in Japan, promoting Himalayan art, music, and culture, is organising a mega-concert in Ladakh during the Kalachakra gathering in July 2014. The show, to be held over a few days, will feature well-known as well as budding artistes from the entire Himalayan region. One night will be dedicated for bands. Big names such as Parikrama are being invited for the event. It is planned to have Choklamsar TCV School as the venue for the concert. For more info, visit the concert webpage.
‘Kalachakra’ means ‘Wheel of Time’ and is the name of one of the Buddhist deities that represents particular aspects of the Enlightened Mind. It forms a part of a system of teachings and practice conferred by the Buddha to his disciples.
Buddhist Devotees and travelers from around the world gather to attend the teachings of the Dalai Lama. The tour will also attend the annual Hemis Festival at the Hemis Monastery in Leh and then travel through Ladakh.
