Prior study of Buddhism not required.

During our spectacular adventure to this gorgeous ancient land we shall tour Leh and surrounding villages. Attend the colorful Ladakh festival and observe the dances and participate in ceremonies.

Our Ladakh tour travels to the spectacular Nubra Valley over the Khardung-la, the highest motor-able road in the world (18,380 ft).

Nubra Valley and the remote Diskit Monastery, are highlights of this very special Himalayan tour.

During our journey you will visit traditional villages and ancient monasteries containing priceless collections of thangkas, sculptures and wall paintings and enjoy meetings with lamas and local lay people. Go where few people have gone before.

    Day 1: Arrival in Delhi

    Overnight at airport hotel.

    Day 2-4: Leh

    Early morning flight to Leh. Tour Leh, visit Spitok Gompa, attend the colorful Hemis Festival.

    Day 5: Leh: Excursion to Shey-Thikse-Stok

    We shall visit the villages of Shey, Thikse and Stok.

    Day 6-7: Durbuk-Tangste-Pangong Lake

    We drive through Kharu, Chemrey, Tagar Sakti to Changla Pass. Upon arrival in Durbuk we visit the small monastery. Afterwards, enjoy a wonderful sunset at the lake. Visit Spangmik village.

    Day 8: Uletokpo

    Drive to Uletokpo, en-route we visit Spituk & Rizong monasteries. Spituk is yet another interesting monastery, on the hill top, offering a commanding view of Indus. It has a totally new Gompa within the monastery as well as the old Gompa which has also been restored.

    Day 9: Lamayuru-Alchi

    Drive to Lamayuru and visit their monastery, the oldest in Ladakh.

    Day 10: Alchi-Leh

    Morning visit Alchi village and monastery. Enjoy beautiful scenics on a float down the Indus River. Afternoon return to Leh.

    Day 11-12: Hundar-Diskit-Hundar

    Drive to Nubra Valley, accessible over the Khardung-la (18,380 ft) the highest motor-able road in the world. The valley was a trade route from Leh and Khashgar. Apart from unparalleled trekking opportunities, the valley has several Buddhist monasteries, most important being the 350 year old Diskit Monastery famous for its murals.

    Second day drive 23 km to Diskit and walk up to Diskit Monastery to witness the morning prayer ceremony. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the monastery through a long row of scattered chortens. The monastery belonging to yellow sect, has 120 resident monks.

    After lunch leave for Hundar village through sandy desert valley and visit old fort of Hundar village and small monastery.

    Day 13: Leh

    Drive back to Leh. Rest of day at leisure.

    Day 14: Delhi - Home

    Morning flight to Delhi. Hotel rooms for wash/change near airport.

    Day 1: Arrival in Delhi

    Overnight near airport.

    Day 2: Fly from Delhi to Srinagar, Kashmir

    Transfer to deluxe houseboats. This afternoon, a shakara ride on Dal lake.

    Day 3-4: Srinagar

    Tour Srinagar and surrounding villages.

    Day 5: Srinagar - Leh

    We take a flight to Leh. We visit the town of Leh, Leh Palace, and Sankar Montastery.

    Day 6: Leh - Lamayuru-Uletokpo

    A panoramic drive to Lamayuru. We visit Lamayuru Monastery and continue to Uletokpo.

    Day 7: Uletokpo-Alchi-Likir-Phyang-Leh

    Viist Alchi, Likri & Phyang monasteries en-route to Leh

    Day 8-9: Leh-Shey-Thikse-Hemis-Leh

    Visit Shey Palace and Thikse Gompa. Attend Ladakh Festival.

    Day 10: Leh

    An excursion to the Stok Palace and return to Leh for overnight.

    Day 11: Durbuk - Tangtse - Pangong Lake

    Pangong Lake is the largest brackish water lake in Asia, 134 km in length, 2-3 km in width and at a height of 4,350 m. It is one of the most attractive lakes located at such an altitude. Out of the 134 km length, about 60% of the lake lies in Tibet and the remaining in India. The deep blue water and perfectly blue sky, exudes a Mediterranean feel similar to Greece. We stay in Spangmik village by the lake.

    Day 12: Morning enjoy the beauty of the area.

    Return to Leh.

    Day 13-14: Sumur-Diskit-Sumur

    Drive to Nubra Valley over over the Khardung-la. Visit Diskit Monastery and Hundar Village.

    Day 15: Return to Leh

    Afternoon independent.

    Day 16: Fly to Delhi & Depart

    Hotel rooms near the airport until your international departure home.
