    Visit Kanchipuram, one of the ancient seven sacred cities of India. Also famed for its handwoven silk, we visit a weaver's home. Tour Meenakshi Temple and attend evening puja in Madurai.

    Experience heritage, art and architecture untouched by time in the homeland of the Nattukottai Chettiars.

    Day 6: Thekkady (Periyar Sanctuary)

    The greatest attraction of Periyar remains the large herds of wild elephants that come down to the lake's edge. Enjoy a boat cruise to view wildlife and visit a spice plantation in this lovely hill station.

    Day 7: Backwaters of Kerala

    Board a private, deluxe Kettuvallom (traditional riceboat) for an overnight tour of the backwaters. A series of canals thread their way through the state to the sea, allowing you a glimpse into local life in Kerala that would be impossible to get from road transport.
